This was a hugely enjoyable project involving a mixture of research, illustration and design. Hostelling Scotland wanted a detailed map for the reception areas of their Skye hostels. It had to follow their recently refreshed corporate branding and be attractive and engaging. They wanted key locations across a range of categories to be included, such as beaches, heritage sites and community centres.

Hostelling Scotland had a group of icons that they used to indicate site facilities online. However, with changing interests and priorities of visitors, new icons were needed, for example, indicating where a site used wind power or had water bottle refill stations. They also wanted icons that could be used in association with particular projects and themes, such as 'Braw Buildings' (in partnership with the Scottish Civic Trust) and the Explorer Fund.
